UPDATE: Seeing the response we got for our post on World Storytelling Day, we decided to convert it into a Storytelling Week. So keep posting names and links in the comments, and keep telling stories. Open till 31st March, 2014.
———————————————————————————————————
World Storytelling Day is a global celebration of the art of story-telling. Celebrated every year at the spring equinox, it falls on 20th March this year.
So we thought, “Why not have a little celebration at Tell-A-Tale? After all, we are all story-tellers here!”
Here’s a chance for all our readers to turn into story-tellers. All you need to do is comment below with the name of your favorite short story and the name of the author (so other readers can find it). If it’s a short story you have read online, add the link. If it’s a story you have written, add the link to your blog.
The only criteria – it should be a short story, so no Harry Potters/LOTRs/names of books.
Happy Storytelling!!!
The Last Leaf by O. Henry – nothing teaches you to “hang in there” better than this story. Link – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Leaf
This is one of the stories by Munshi Premchand which is my personal favourite. By the end of it, I just about managed to stop the tears from rolling out. Provided below are two links of the story, one in Hindi and the other one is the abridged English translation of the same story. I would recommend reading the story in Hindi to really understand Munshiji’s class

Forgot to mention the name of the story below – “Idgah – by Munshi Premchand”

Indeed it’s a lovely story. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Oh this seems like a good place to self-publicise, however shameful it is. Been working on an online fiction novel, here: http://periwinklepansies.tumblr.com/
