A sultry winter morning was the ideal setting for weaving magic at Kahaani Festival, Jaipur. And that’s exactly what storytellers from Delhi Storytellers’ Network (DSN) did!
The morning of December 5th saw 7 storytellers from DSN landing in Jaipur with their bag full of stories. The venue was Kahaani Festival, held at Jayshree Periwal Group of Schools and presented by Teamwork Arts.
The Kahaani Festival aims to enchant and empower audiences as it explores a multitude of narratives from India and around the world. The festival resonates the objectives of nurturing curiosity and bridging the gap of knowledge through the various mediums of storytelling.
The DSN storytellers – Valentina Trivedi, Rituparna Ghosh, Yuveka, Kabuliwaala Kamal Pruthi, Vasundhara Bahuguna, Ranjan De and Chitra Chandrashekhar – brought out from their bags, stories from around the world and the deepest corners of India. Every story was animated through dance, music, drama, drawing and illustrations – every visual, oral and written form imaginable.
There were stories from childhood by Vasundhara, while Rituparna took everyone to the land of no stories.
Tricksters ruled at Valentina’s session while music (and not raisins!) is what came out of Kabuliwala’s bag.
The kids saw the stories brought to color and life with Chitra’s drawings and illustrations, while at the Art Hub, kids got to make and eat their characters with Ranjan De.
There was something for the grown-ups as well, at a session for educators by Yuveka.
Delhi Storytellers’ Network is a network of storytellers, practicing all formats of storytelling – oral, visual and written. Additionally, it also has members from allied networks such as educators, librarians, owners of reading spaces, etc.
